When Inky arrived several months ago into the care of Arundawn Dog Rescue she was five years old and had endured life as a breeding dog. Nothing more. She had not been loved, nor lived in a home, nor had a family to look out for her. She had however had many litters of puppies,
A life of breeding takes a heavy toll on a dog in both physical and emotional ways. In the words of her rescuers, Inky was nervous of ‘life and the real world’. But she loves her walks, canine company and in her foster home, over time learned to play with the dogs and toys. Like many dogs from the kind of background Inky experienced, she finds strangers worrying.
Arundawn worked hard to find Inky her perfect home, one where she will continue to learn that life can be peaceful, humans kind and understand that she is loved.
Arundawn Dog Rescue works with council pounds and facilities taking in dogs most at risk of being euthanised. These are extremely demanding times for rescues and a Schnauzerfest Grant was awarded to pay Inky’s veterinary costs and go someway to assisting with the rescue’s significant veterinary bills.
January 2022 update
Inky, now called Binky went to live in Surrey with her new family. She’s come on leaps and bounds and is now a very happy dog. Her canine sister, labrador Nala struggled to adapt to life after the sudden loss of the family’s previous schnauzer Molly from meningitis when aged just 5. Nowadays Nala and Binky are happily enjoying their wonderful shared life with lovely walks. It’s the best outcome possible for two dogs who have known sadness and upset, but now only happiness and love.
