Confessions of an online shopper

We’re keeping the writer of this confession anon. But know that they’re shamefaced that it’s taken them this long to discover how easy it is to help Schnauzerfest this way. Even though they’ve been a Trustee for a few years and they see the accounts on a regular basis and know others do it. But, to keep their face from reddening further, we won’t name them (yet).

I am a prolific online shopper. During Covid I considered my Amazon driver as a co-worker. I may have spoken with him more than my husband (to my husband’s delight). I was aware of, and indeed have encouraged others to sign up for easyfundraising.

But, oh the shame, the shame. And a flashback to 40 years ago when the headmistress said in assembly, the person who threw eggs from the school bus knows who she is, and should stand up now. You know the feeling. You get a bit hot and start to stutter…

…well, here I am, confessing : I was not using easyfundraising myself!

I had simply not got round to it. Plus, it may be a bit of a faff. I assumed my links, favourites and passwords would all be too much faffing around.

But, after a face to face chat with someone who had, quite naturally, assumed I’d be using it and wasn’t, I shuffled off and signed up then and there. I covered my embarrasment by doing a bit of immediate impromptu online shopping. And wow. What makes this confession even more of an embarrasment is that it was DEAD easy - the clue is in the name Anne, EASY FUNDRAISING.

It cost me NOTHING (except my shopping I was doing anyway) to raise money for Schnauzerfest. Since signing up and using I’ve even saved money by shopping around from my default of Amazon and finding products cheaper elsewhere. With companies which are happy to donate to Schnauzerfest.

It took me no time at all. Just a few minutes, and selecting the reminder option to tell me if I’m on a site that supports easyfundraising. This means I don’t have to do anything again, EASY. It did not affect the sites I already use in any way. I did not have to do anything different.

So Schnauzerfest wins by getting FREE donations when I spend and I get a warm orange fuzzy glow knowing I am making a difference with my shopping.

I hope you have enjoyed my confession and I beg your forgiveness.

PS I did not throw the eggs from the school bus, but stood up in the assembly that day, as I felt someone had to. I now ask anyone that is yet to sign up to Easy Fundraising do the same.
