Dolly was discovered at a property attended by the emergency services. She was living with a large number of other dogs in awful conditions of neglect. All dogs were taken into rescue and given immediate welfare care.
Dolly’s assessment revealed a grade 4 heart murmur. Her rescue knew she would require monitoring over time as they got to know her and dealt with her immediate welfare needs. She would be spayed and her infected mouth would be treated as soon as she was stable.
It was to be a few weeks before Dolly could be spayed as she was full of milk. As there were no sign of puppies, the veterinary conclusion was she was experiencing a phantom pregnancy.
She responded well to the loving care and treatment she received over a few weeks and was soon full of beans enjoying her new life, getting ready to move to her new family.
