Ernie

Ernie was diagnosed with diabetes when he was just a few months old. Unfortunately, due to a physical disability his owner struggled to do Ernie’s daily injections. Despite trying to find all ways to manage, the difficult decision was made that Ernie’s best possible future would be in a different home.

Ernie’s breeder was not interested in helping.

With various complicating factors, the situation became urgent. Starfish Dog Rescue quickly agreed to help and Ernie’s perfect new family was soon found. He joined Millie and Mat and their mini schnauzers Haf and Ava-Louise. With her nursing background Millie is unfazed by what caring for a young diabetic dog involves and was teaching Mat in preparation for Ernie’s arrival!

We will bring much more news on how Ernie is getting along. We know that he’ll be enjoying a busy life as an active Schnauzerfester as Millie and Mat organise fundraising events, and join many walks all around the country every year. He will soon be celebrating his first birthday.
