Jayne's story

In 2020 Jayne decided to walk 1000 miles and raise money for Schnauzerfest. For every mile she walked, she donated 10p. Friends and family supported Jayne and raised a fantastic £1045.

Since 2021 Jayne has been supporting the charity with a yearly walking challenge. Over the years her commitment has grown and today she organises others with her dedicated WalkFest for SF group on Facebook. (see here)

Why did you choose to get involved with Schnauzerfest?

Naya

Naya

I first became involved in online schnauzer groups around 2014 and decided after reading ‘Saving Susie-Belle’ that I wanted to make a difference by adoping a dog saved from a life of breeding.

Reading the book broke my heart but also changed my life. I wanted to adopt. I sobbed my heart out when Susie-Belle died. Knowing my heart was broken for a little dog I had never met, I knew then that the impact of her journey with Janetta had changed my perception of rescue dogs. When I heard about Schnauzerfest it was something I wanted to be part of, to raise awareness of puppy farming and be with other like minded people.

In 2016 we adopted Naya, a dog who had spent her life in a puppy farm but it was to be a couple of years before we were able to take part in our first Schnauzerfest event. That was a walk at Ashton Court, Bristol and the following year it was at the Brean Beach walk in aid of Schnauzerfest that I met Janet, mum to Millie.

What would you say to someone thinking about fundraising for Schnauzerfest?

Being able to make a difference to dogs who have been neglected and abused, to give them the best possible chance to live good lives is definitely something that’s worthwhile supporting. On our own the impact might be small, but together, we can be a force to be reckoned with. A force to bring about change and to put kindness back into mankind. Supporting the charity gives strength and effectiveness to everything it does for the dogs.
