Lorna walked for Schnauzerfest in 2014 and is celebrating with her new friend

Lorna joined one of the very first Schnauzerfest walks in 2014. She has recently adopted Stevie, a puppy born with an eye conditon which severely limits his vision.

We caught up with Lorna to see how they are getting along, but first she remembered Susie-Belle, the little schnauzer who inspired Janetta to start Schnauzerfest.

'We now live in Hayling Island so join the South Coast walks. We think of Susie-Belle when we're on the beach as we can see the Witterings across the water where we've walked a couple of times in her memory."

“I always wanted to adopt. Now, as Louis is the ideal dog to show a new dog the way, it's almost as if he was made for it. My sister rescued a cavalier called Nelly who had been used for breeding for 3 years and straight away she felt safe with Louis. Louis will soon be 12 and had a cancerous lump removed in May which was successful with no further treatment required. But I had to face the fact, and it breaks my heart, that he won't be here forever.

Stevie makes me laugh daily as I have never seen a dog so excited at meal times. He is a bright boy and copes very well with his limited eyesight. He doesn't like to be too far away from me or one of the dogs when he is exploring. He is already part of the family and is hoping to join a Schnauzer walk soon in his sling. Thank you for the help Schnauzerfest has given Stevie, we really appreciate it.”
