As we start another year I would like to offer my warmest thanks for everything you did during 2024 to support the charity. Every act of generosity is something very special and we saw many, many such acts throughout the year.

I am especially happy when I see people with their dogs out walking in support of the charity as this is exactly how everything started. It’s in 2011 and seeing Susie-Belle come out of her shell when she was walking with other dogs that the roots of Schnauzerfest lie. It was then that I had an inkling that organising walks could be something far more impactful for the dogs than simply being an enjoyable hour or so with friends. But, I could never have foreseen where it would lead and all the wonderful things you now make possible through the charity.

I know there are a lot of individual groups and networks around the British Isles which organise walks in support of Schnauzerfest. I am thankful for every single step taken by the dogs and their humans. And for every pound raised. The fundraising undertaken by everyone is simply brilliant beyond measure.

The Schnauzerfest ethos has always been, and always will be, that everyone’s contributions are equal. We have a non-competitive approach, because it is through the collective effort of many that a powerful difference is made. And last year, this was demonstrated by many groups of friends who gathered together for the cause. Whether that was with regular monthly walks, or one-offs, or picnics or playdates. With walks where lots attended, or fewer. Together, a huge amount of good was done.

I know this is never, ever about me, but, if you’ll indulge me for a second, I cannot adequately express how much of an impact on me personally your support has. Knowing that the work Susie-Belle sparked me into doing back in 2011 is so thoroughly, regularly supported, is something I find truly humbling. And I will be forever thankful for everything, anyone does.

Simple dog walks are the beating heart of Schnauzerfest, long may this continue.

Whatever you do this year for the charity, know that your impact is profound, and I sincerely thank you.
