This year Dogs Friends rescue in Somerset have cared for a lot of dogs whose lives have been blighted in the breeding industry. Schnauzerfest grants have assisted this small, hardworking rescue with the veterinary costs of caring for five miniature schnauzers who all left their breeding lives behind in 2024.
From April to November, all five spent different periods of time with experienced Dogs Friends fosterer Clare, who took the dogs into her home. While with her, they all learned how to live in a home for the first time, how to become regular dogs, loved for being themselves, not the puppies they produced.
It was in the early part of the year that Nora was with Clare, and following her spay, she experienced complications, and had to be readmitted for a few days. Without your support, the significnat costs for this would have fallen to her rescue. Being in a position to ease the financial worries for rescues this way, is what your donations mean. It is a huge and very much appreciated help to the rescues we work with each year.
Later in the year, Millie experienced a similar situation. Once again, that the charity could be there to pay for unexpected veterinary treatment which saved her life, was a massive relief to the rescue.
All five dogs are now living wonderful, happy lives with their adoptive familes, all have new canine siblings guiding and helping them. And all are enjoying good health and bundles of happiness.
